Avianca Cargo transported more than 11,800 tons of flowers for San Valentine´s day
Bogotá, February 13, 2020. Avianca Cargo registered the mobilization of 11,888 tons of flowers between January 18 and February 6, 2020, from Bogotá, Medellín and Quito, destined for Valentine's Day that is celebrated in several countries of the world on Friday, February 14. These volumes represent a growth of 4% compared to what was transported in the same season the previous year.
Under the Avianca Cargo brand, 10 cargo aircraft were used between A330F, B767-200 and A300-600, with capacities ranging between 38 Tons and 65 Tons per flight, thus operating a total of 214 flights (One Way). The main destinations to which these flowers were mobilized to were Miami, New York, Los Angeles and Dallas. In addition to these volumes, 699 Tons were moved to other destinations, including Amsterdam, London, Madrid and Hong Kong.
Among the flowers transported from Bogotá, roses and carnations stand out, while pom-poms, hydrangeas and chrysanthemums were exported from Medellín, and from Quito roses and gypsos were mobilized.
Kurt Schosinsky, Managing Director of Avianca Cargo said: “This was a very successful season for us, where we met our goals by giving our customers a high level of professionalism and timely service. It was a logistical challenge since we handled high volumes of flower. The busiest day was January 30, in which we received 15 flights at the Miami station".
