Wear the correct mask when flying

  • Avianca continues to strengthen its biosecurity protocols to ensure safe flights.
  • According to the recommendation of international health organizations, when traveling, passengers must wear surgical or standard masks without valves, which comply with the established manufacturing indications.
  • Anti-gas" masks or masks with external filters, valve masks, scarves, scarves and masks without face shields are not allowed to fly.
Bogota, April 6th, 2021. With the purpose of preventing contagions and taking care of passengers and employees, Avianca has once again updated its biosecurity protocols and as of April 14th, 2021 will only accept on its flights the use of surgical or standard masks without valves and those made of fabric*.

In this way, it complies with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and restricts the use of "anti-gas" masks or masks with external filters, masks with valves and scarves or bandanas used as respiratory protection, as well as masks without face shields.

Avianca, joining this practice adopted by the entire industry, reminds that the use of this protection element is mandatory during the entire flight experience and invites people who plan to travel with them soon, to verify that they have the correct face mask.

According to Resolution 000411 of 2021 of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia, the use of surgical masks is only allowed for domestic or international flights departing or arriving to the country. For people over 60 years of age or those with any illness, the use of N95 type masks is recommended. This resolution is effective as of April 7th, 2021.
