We drive change, seeking to improve the quality of life and providing opportunities for comprehensive development in the communities where we operate
If you are a lifemiles member, your miles can be used for much more than just take you to incredible destinations. Through the Miles bank, you can support Social Organizations committed to providing opportunities and changing the lives of entire communities. Turn your miles into something powerful and help:
Children in remote areas, delivering quality medical personnel and treatments.
People waiting for organ transplants, mobilizing an opportunity.
Empowering programs for women who are victims of gender-based violence.
At the Miles bank, we are committed to making the world a fairer, more equitable, and compassionate place.
Our mission is to support different social causes. Some of them are listed below:
Thanks to our management and commitment to the community, we impact the lives of thousands of people and the territories where they live, providing timely and responsible support to those who need it most
Our 2023 figures reflect tireless work for society:
● +18 strategic partnerships with expert Social Organizations, enabling us to directly impact the population they serve.
● +14,000 people served through medical brigades, humanitarian assistance, and primary social support in remote areas with difficult socio-economic conditions.
● +60 dreams fulfilled for children, adolescents, and young people to promote their education, social leadership, or for those with a life-threatening health condition.
● +30 organs for transplantation transported in Colombia to save the lives of people on the waiting list.
● +400 interventions for abandoned animals to improve their quality of life and health.
We work with our social partners to ensure transparent, clear, and efficient management with a timely and direct impact on communities in vulnerable conditions. Learn more about them
Our social commitment aims to build a future where all people can have comprehensive well-being and opportunities for growth and development, generating significant changes for society and the planet
We aim to increase awareness of the crime of human trafficking by providing key and decisive information to our clients, employees, and other stakeholders. This initiative aims to prevent the occurrence of this crime within our value chain and to identify potential risk situations in the environments where we operate. The Colombia's Office of the Attorney General, Renacer Foundation, Ministry of Interior and OPAIN are some of the partners that make this possible.
If you want to learn more about these crimes and how you can act in a risky situation, visit the National Campaign against Human Trafficking #Esoescuento website of the Attorney General's Office.
We seek to impact cross-cutting projects within the company, in order to identify social opportunities that allow us to continue benefiting the communities within our reach, while generating value for our customers and other stakeholders:
● Initiatives to generate inclusive employment.
● Hiring of emerging and inclusive suppliers and entrepreneurs.
● Purchase and use of local, artisanal, and/or sustainable items in our supply chain.
● Circular economy projects that directly impact vulnerable populations.
We aim to build a more just and equitable society through social management. We value diversity and foster love for differences that enrich our identity and nurture social fabric by breaking down barriers and promoting participation
We are more than 14,000 employees, located in 25 countries, making diversity a key element of our DNA.
avianca believes, celebrates, and values diversity and reaffirms its commitment to work for inclusion and equity through its manifesto:
Our intention is to build travel experiences that are easier and simpler for our users, thus enabling everyone to fully participate in everyday life with their diverse abilities
Our goal is to identify and minimize barriers so that users with disabilities can navigate the avianca website optimally. We aim to make a positive impact on the community, ensuring the right of all individuals to fly in an accessible and safe manner to all our destinations, regardless of their visual, auditory, intellectual, psychosocial, and mobility capabilities.
At avianca, we have access to the best practices and all accessibility issues at the industry level thanks to Michael Swiatek, who is the chairman of the IATA Accessibility Working Group and also has a visual impairment. Additionally, we are in constant contact with our External Accessibility Committee, with whom we build and validate actions to improve the flying experience every day.
Attitudinal barriers when interacting with our customers can be more significant to their experience than any adjustment. That's why we seek to raise awareness and train over 14,000 employees on basic concepts of disability, mobility canes, what it's like to travel with a wheelchair, and the power of a simple question: "Is there anything I can do to assist you?". Additionally, we are constantly adjusting our processes to eliminate barriers, evaluating technological tools such as virtual interpretation services for the deaf; and enhancing the infrastructure of our aircraft by adding braille numbering.
● We constantly review the website to ensure it meets accessibility criteria and to make processes simple and practical across our entire digital ecosystem.
● In recent months, we have sought to address multiple concerns from passengers and their companions regarding accessibility issues in our Help center.
● We have opened channels for our passengers to add "Special assistance services" from their devices in a simple and clear way while making their reservation.
