Flight changes

For basic, light and classic fares, changes are allowed prior to flight departure, but the following additional charges apply: 

• Change fee: additional charge generated by voluntary changes made to the ticket (only for basic, light and classic fares).

• Fare difference: corresponds to the price difference between the ticket you initially purchased and the new option you are choosing (applies to all fares).
•  Differences generated by taxes: they apply according to the regulations in force in each country.

For flex and business fares, changes are allowed before flight departure without a change fee, but fare differences and taxes may apply.

Baggage

On international flights originating in Bogotá, wrapped baggage will not be accepted due to the difficulty it causes in the inspection and control procedures carried out by authorities.

Seats

• Keep in mind that the maximum recline of business class seats may vary depending on the type of aircraft.
• business class seat, business class (Flatbed), or Premium (depending on the type of aircraft operating the route) are included with the business fare with all their benefits.
• Plus: included and subject to availability when purchasing the flex fare.
• In some of our planes, we only have Economy seats.
  
  

Refunds

• Applies to flex and business fares, before flight departure. 
• Refunds after the flight are not allowed on any fare, except for operational events.
• The refund condition applies to the value paid for the fare. Taxes will be refunded in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.
• Our fares (basic, light, classic and flex), except business, are promotional fares.
• From June 1, 2023, additional services will be refundable if you request it together with the refund of your ticket, applies if your fare is flex or business.
• Unused additional services due to airline's fault will be refundable for all fares.
• If you purchased baggage for a flight to or from the United States, and we were unable to provide the service, you can request the refund. Learn about the exceptions where the request would not apply.
• For more information on the right of withdrawal, cancellation and other laws depending on the country, please refer to our Help Center.
• You are required to use all segments of your itinerary according to the flight plan you purchased. You cannot stay in the connecting city without continuing to your destination. If you decide not to complete your itinerary, we will consider that you have completed the journey from the origin to the final scheduled destination, and you will not be entitled to a refund for the unused segments, except for the applicable taxes and fees for those segments.

Priority Service

The business fare includes priority check-in, priority baggage claim and priority boarding.

Onboard service

On some of our flights, onboard sales service is not available. 

Flights operated by Clic Air S.A. with origin or connection in Bogotá

• If your flight is through our codeshare agreement (flights within numbers 2900 to 2999), on the day of your trip, you must go to Terminal 2 (Puente Aéreo).
• If your flight is not within these numbers, it will be operated by Clic Air S.A. for avianca Express, and on the day of your trip, you must go to Terminal 1 (El Dorado Airport).

lifemiles accrual

• The fare price used for mileage calculation does not include taxes, fees or additional services.
• Mile accrual applies only if your flight is operated by avianca.
• elite members earn additional miles, the elite bonus applies according to the status of each member:

• This promotion applies to tickets purchased in basic and light fares on all avianca routes.
• Basic and light fare flights earn 3 miles per dollar.
• This applies to tickets purchased in any country between October 14th and December 31st, 2024, for travel between October 14th, 2024, and March 31st, 2025, excluding December 7th, 2024, to January 19th, 2025.
• Elite members eligible for this promotion will receive an Elite Bonus, calculated based on the 3 miles per dollar earned on these fares.
• The promotion is valid only for flights operated by avianca Holdings S.A. airlines (Aerovías del Continente Americano S.A. avianca, avianca Costa Rica S.A., avianca Ecuador S.A., and Taca International Airlines S.A.).
• This offer is available only to lifemiles customers who have entered their lifemiles number in their booking.
• The miles awarded under this promotion apply to the first purchase issue for tickets bought at the aforementioned fares and dates.
• These miles are eligible for Elite status, as outlined in the terms and conditions of the Elite program available at https://www.lifemiles.com/landing/partners/airline/AV-elite.
• Mileage accrual is calculated based on the fare paid, excluding taxes and fees.
• Miles accrued are subject to the terms and conditions of the lifemiles Program, available at www.lifemiles.com.
• This promotion is carried out by Aerovías del Continente Americano, S.A. avianca, and lifemiles Ltd., a company incorporated in Bermuda and owner and operator of the lifemiles Program, responsible for the crediting of miles based on reports received from avianca.
